Who
Wants To Go To Zanzibar For Christmas and New Years?
I am personally organizing a Christmas and New Years stay on Zanzibar and
I would be accompanying this excursion.
The
plan is to rent a fully equipped private house in fascinating Stone
Town, a UNESCO Historical Site, and to also rent
another fully equipped private house right on a Zanzibar Beach,
recognized as one of the worlds’ best beaches. We would do
our own food preparation and clean up as well. Access to the houses will
be restricted to paying guests only.
While some guests are
staying in Stone Town, other guests would stay at the beach house;
switching locations halfway through the trip.
The
weather on Zanzibar is excellent at this time of the year. In
Stone Town, there are many sites to see and tours available such as the
City Tour, the Swimming With Dolphins Tours, The Changu Island Tortoise
Tour, the Spice Tour, etc. There are also all kinds of interesting
shops, markets and restaurants, and nightlife in and around Stone Town.
On Zanzibar's’ beaches, there is world class
snorkeling and scuba diving
(PADI certified), deep sea fishing, para-sailing,
water skiing, kayaking, etc. including restaurants and also some night
life.
For those
who are interested, I could also incorporate a safari to the Tanzanian
game park such as the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, and/or a trek up
Mount Kilimanjaro, as part of the stay. Check out the website for
more information on these destinations.
I will
not be leading any of the tours however I will be on the ground in an
organizing capacity. If enough people are interested, I am sure we can
get some great rates on all aspects of the stay including tours
and even flights.
Please
email me indicating your interest, number in your party and ages, and an
outline of your main interests. Indication of interest does not
obligate you but gives me a body count to work with.
Get back
to me as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as Christmas and New
Years are very busy times.
From
Now To Christmas
March,
April and most of May are the rainy seasons in most of the
best tourist parts of sub-Saharan Africa. My advice is to take a pass on
Africa at this time.
The
weather starts getting decent again the latter part of May. I am
still finding openings and decent tour and flight prices, however tours
and venues are filling up fast and the rising price of fuel is causing
an increase in flight prices. If you are planning to visit Africa in May
or June time, I suggest you call me right away.
Openings
for tours and venues in July and August are already tight
because this is high season due to school vacation. Expect higher prices
and less selection for venues at this time. Again, if you are planning
to visit Africa at this time, call me now.
Things start to get back to normal for September and October
but with the economy improving, it won’t be too long where
reservations for Africa need to be done at least 6 months ahead as was
the case before the recession. Africa is not like other tourist
destinations where you can book a quality tour at the last minute.
Its
raining again in November and the early part of December
so again, it’s a pass in my opinion however from Christmas onwards,
the weather is spectacular. It’s never too early to start planning for
your African trip.
Please
email me if you would like my publication, “ When To Go To Africa”.
All
prices quoted by Lion Dog African Safaris are in American dollars and
Scotia Bank recently forecast the Canadian dollar to be at $USD 1.05 by
years end if not sooner. It’s a good time to be a Canadian traveling
to Africa.
Did you know that you can ride ostriches in the town of Oudshoorn in the western cape of South Africa ?
Goodbye " Kwa heri "
